(6) Apply a large quantity of oil to the filter cap o-ring and the filter element o-ring.
NOTE: This helps with installation of the filter assembly

into the CSD housing.

(7) Push the filter assembly (with the 3 O-rings, filter element, and filter cap) into the oil filter hole of the CSD.
NOTE: The filter cap must contain the parts of the bypass valve.

CAUTION: USE HAND PRESSURE ONLY TO MAKE THE FILTER CAP SURFACE
_______ TOUCH THE CSD SURFACE. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS TO MAKE THE SURFACES TOUCH. THIS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CSD.
(a) Push until the surface of the filter cap touches the surface of the oil filter hole.

Install the 4 screws and the 4 washers.
(a) Tighten the 4 screws from 48 to 53 pound-inches.
(9)
If the pop-out button is extended, push it in to set it again.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH OIL INTO THE GENERATOR DRIVE. TOO MUCH OIL CAN MAKE THE GENERATOR DRIVE BECOME TOO HOT AND CAUSE DAMAGE.

If it is necessary, fill the CSD with oil (AMM 12-13-21/301).

Close the left fan cowl (AMM 71-11-02/201).

GENERATOR DRIVE SIGHT GLASS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the sight glass on the generator drive
(2)
The installation and the leak check of the sight glass on the generator drive.
B.
The sight glass for the oil level on the generator drive is on the side of the drive housing.

CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE CSD AREA IS ALWAYS CLEAN. A DIRTY DRIVE SYSTEM CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CSD.
(1) Get access to the sight glass (AMM 71-11-02/201).
(a) Open the engine cowl panel.

WARNING:_______LOWER THE OIL LEVEL BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE SIGHT GLASS. HOT OIL THAT DRAINS FROM THE GENERATOR DRIVE CAN CAUSE INJURY.
(2) Drain the oil until it is below the bottom of the sight glass (5).
(a)
Push the button on the check valve to release the pressure in the generator case.
(b)
Remove the tank drain plug (2).
(c)
Remove the self-closing valve (1).
(d)
Drain the oil until the oil level is below the sight glass (5).
(e)
Install the valve (1). 1) Lubricate the O-ring with Acryloid HF-866.
