TASK 24-11-11-735-021-003
1. System Test - Variable Speed Constant Frequency Generator/Converter___________________________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
This test will make sure that the variable speed constant frequency generator/converter (VSCF) will supply power to loads correctly. During this test, it is necessary to operate the engine and connect the VSCF to loads. The loads that you will use are the lights, air conditioning, fuel boost pumps, and hydraulic pumps.
(2)
This test will also make sure that the disconnect circuits for the VSCF operate correctly. When you push the DISCONNECT switch, the VSCF disconnects electrically (removes the field current) and the generator continues to turn. When you push the DISCONNECT RESET button, the VSCF connects again.
(3)
If a system trip occurs, the M238 annunciator panel and or the VSCF NVM can be used to identify the cause of the trip. Troubleshoot the cause of the trip using the AC Generation System - Troubleshooting Procedures (AMM 24-21-00/101).
(4)
If a system trip occurs from a VSCF failure, it will give these indications:
(a)
The FF light on the M238 annunciator panel will come on.
(b)
The output voltage from the VSCF will be less than 10 volts.
(c)
The VSCF Fault History Display Module will identify the cause as VSCF FAULT - PROTECTIVE TRIP.
(5)
The VSCF is on the accessory gearbox at the 8 o'clock position.
