Apply a generous coat of grease on the O-rings (4) and (13), the lube insert (3) and (14) and the interior surface of bolts

 (2)
 and (12).

 (b)  
Slide the O-rings (4) onto the lube insert (3).

 (c)  
Slide the O-rings (13) onto the lube insert (14).

 (d)  
Relube the inserts if it is required.

 (e)  
Install the lube insert (3) in the bolt (2).

 (f)  
Install the lube insert (14) in the bolt (12).

 (g)  
Align the lockbolt holes.

Make sure the bungee restraining tool is in place.

Install Upper Drag Strut (Fig. 401)

Hoist the drag strut (1) into position.

Install the upper drag strut spindle pin assembly consisting of the spindle bolt (2), the lube insert (3) and the o-rings (4).

 (a)  
Apply grease to all the threads, the washer faces, the bolt shanks and the bushing surfaces immediately prior to their installation.

 (b)  
Install the thread protector and insert the spindle pin assembly into the lugs of the upper drag strut (1) and the upper spindle.

 (c)  
Remove the thread protector and install the washer (6) and nut (7).

 (d)  
Tighten the nut from 120 to 180 pound-inches using the torque wrench adapter. 1) Loosen the nut, if it is necessary, to the nearest

 castellation to allow for the installation of the lockbolt (8).

 (e)  
Install the lockbolt (8), washer (9), and nut (10). 1) Tighten the nut.

 (3)  
Install the drag strut apex pin assembly consisting of the apex bolt (12), lube insert (14) and o-rings (13).

 (a)  
Apply grease to all the threads, washer faces, bolt shanks and bushing surfaces immediately prior to their installation.

 (b)  
Insert the drag strut apex pin assembly into the lugs of the jury strut, upper drag strut and lower drag strut.

 (c)  
Install the washer (15) and nut (17).

 (d)  
Tighten the nut from 120 to 180 pound-inches using the torque wrench adapter. 1) Loosen the nut, if it is necessary, to the nearest

 castellation to allow for the installation of the lockbolt (16).

 (e)  
Install the lockbolt (16), washer (18), and nut (19). 1) Tighten the nut.

Install the hydraulic lines (11) on the drag strut (1).

Do a check of hydraulic connections for leaks.
