 (b)  
Move the lower bearing, the scraper ring retainer and the scraper ring together.

 (c)  
Examine that the seals are not twisted.


 CAUTION: KEEP THIS TOOL IN ITS POSITION WHILE YOU INSTALL THE
_______ PARTS. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO SEALS.
 (d)  Lubricate the seal guide tool with applicable hydraulic fluid.
 (e) (f) (g) (h)  Move the assembled parts up into the outer cylinder (2) as much as possible by hand.Lubricate the inner surfaces of the gland seating tool.Set the tool halves 180 degrees apart on the inner cylinder (13).Apply force to the gland seating tool to put the assembled parts in the outer cylinder (2). 1) Use the jacks installed below the truck to lift the truck symmetrical. 2) Lift the truck until the gland nut (9) on the yoke touches the seating tool.
 WARNING:_______ DO NOT APPLY UNWANTED FORCE WITH THE JACKS. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE YOKE, THE GLAND NUT AND THE SEATING TOOL. AND IT CAN ALSO CAUSE INJURY TO
 PERSONS.
 3) 4) 5) 6)  Carefully lift the truck.Carefully push the assembled parts into the outer cylinder (2) until the parts move into the outer cylinder (2).During the jack, make sure it moves freely.Make sure not too much force is applied to the seating tool through the gland nut (9) and the yoke.
 NOTE:____ Resistance will increase because of the seal friction while the seal (6) moves into the seal guide tool. The resistance will decrease after the seal is through the guide.
 (i)  Release the jack pressure lightly and remove the gland seating tool and the seal guide tool.

 WARNING:_______ DO NOT LET YOUR SKIN TOUCH THE MATERIAL.  CORROSION
 INHIBITION MATERIAL CONTAINS FLAMMABLE AND POISONOUS
 MATERIALS.  SPEAK WITH THE MANUFACTURER, FIRE, INDUSTRIAL
 HYGIENE AND SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS ON THE NECESSARY
 EQUIPMENT, AND PROCEDURE FOR THIS MATERIAL.  FLUSH THE
 MATERIAL FROM THE SKIN OR FROM THE EYES IMMEDIATELY WITH
 WATER.  PROVIDE MEDICAL AID TO ANY PERSON WITH AN INJURY

 IMMEDIATELY.
 (j)  Apply the corrosion inhibition material to the gland nut threads.
 CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE GLAND NUT (9) MORE THAN THE TORQUE
_______ LIMIT TO ALIGN THE SLOTS. TOO MUCH TORQUE DOES NOT MAKE A BETTER SEAL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO PARTS.
 (k)  
Use the wrench adapter for the lower gland nut to install the gland nut (9).

 (l)  
Tighten the gland nut (9) 2100 to 2400 pound-inches.

 (m)  
Align the nearest lock tab slots.

 (n)  
Do a check that (the dimension A minus 7.924) is equal to the dimension B | 0.030 inches (Fig. 802). 1) If the dimension B is less than the limit, disassemble the

 shock strut. 2) Examine for the twisted seals or the clearance between the parts.

 (o)  
After you assemble and tighten the parts correctly, install the lockplate.

 (p)  
Rub the open part of the inner cylinder (13) with hydraulic fluid specified on the shock strut nameplate.

 Remove the axle jacks (AMM 07-11-03/201).

 Bleed the hydraulic fluid from the shock struts.

 (a)  
Keep the chrome surfaces on the struts almost symmetrical until the inner cylinders (13) on all struts are fully compressed (The X dimension on shock strut for the body landing gear is


 6.80 inches. The X dimension on the shock strut for the wing landing gear is 8.15 inches) (AMM 12-15-03/301 and AMM 12-15-04/301).
