D. Remove the Side Brace (Fig. 401)

WARNING:_______THE SIDE BRACE WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 75 POUNDS. MAKE SURE IT IS SUFFICIENTLY HELD BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE ASSEMBLIES OF THE SIDE BRACE PIN. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO PARTS CAN OCCUR.

Hold the side brace (3).

Remove the lower pin assembly (10) of the side brace (3) (includes the lube insert (11), the pin and the o-rings (12)).
(a)
Remove the lockbolt (23), the washer (22) and the nut (21).
(b)
Remove the side brace pin (10), the lubrication insert (11), the side brace pin washer (9) and the nut (8).

Remove the upper pin assembly (15) of the side brace (3) (includes the lube insert (16), the pin, and the o-rings (17)).
(a)
Remove the lockbolt (20), the washer (19) and the nut (18).
(b)
Remove the side brace pin (15), the lube insert (16), the side brace pin washer (14) and the nut (13).

Remove the side brace (3) from the airplane.

If it is necessary, remove the spherical bearing (7).
(a)
Make the lock breaks of the keywasher (5) straight and remove the nut (4).
(b)
Remove the bearing and the washers (5) and (6) from the shock strut lug.
