Procedure - Perform the two subsequent quick checks of the scraper ring on the landing gear:
S 212-122
(1) Visually examine the chrome surface of the inner cylinder before you clean it.
NOTE: If you find vertical streaks of fluid or accumulated debris
____ on the chrome surface, it means that part of the scraper ring do not perform well.

(2) Use a mirror and a flashlight to examine the scraper ring.
NOTE: Put the mirror below the outer cylinder and against the inner
____ cylinder to examine the condition of the scraper ring.

If one of the above checks finds a fault on the scraper ring, use the optional split scraper ring to replace the damaged scraper ring.
(a)
Release the pressure from the shock strut (Ref 32-13-02/801).
(b)
Lower the gland nut.
(c)
Cut the damaged scraper ring from the inner cylinder.
NOTE: Do not scratch the surface of the inner cylinder.

(d)
Install the split scraper ring.
(e)
Tighten the gland nut 2100-2400 inch-pound torque (Ref 32-13-02/801).
(f)
Do this task: Body Landing Gear Shock Strut Servicing (12-15-04/301).
G.
Put the Airplane Back to its Usual Condition.

WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO REMOVE THE

BODY LANDING GEAR SHOCK STRUT - FLUID REPLACEMENT

1. General

A. This procedure has instructions to drain all fluid from the shock strut of the body landing gear. The fluid capacity for each strut is approximately 12.5 gallons. Refer to AMM 12-15-04/301 for filling and pressurization procedures.
