This procedure introduces an optional split scraper ring which can be used to replace the damaged scraper ring on the gear without the removal of the gear or disassembly of the gear. This procedure also has two quick checks to examine the scraper ring without the removal of the gear or disassembly of the gear.

Close the shutoff valve for the pressure gage (9) with a 3/16-inch hex wrench.

Use the oil fill valve (4) to bleed the pressure from the tube between the pressure gage (3) and the shutoff valve (9).
NOTE: Use a small container to catch all fluid when it comes

through the oil fill valve.

Disconnect the tube from the pressure gage assembly (3).

Remove the four nuts (2) and washers (1) which hold the pressure gage assembly (3) to the clamps on the shock strut.
NOTE: The bolts must stay in the clamps after you remove the nuts
