BODY LANDING GEAR SHOCK STRUT - REPAIRS

1. General_______
A. This procedure gives the seal replacement instructions for a one piece configuration. This configuration has the lower bearing and the seal carrier as a one piece assembly.
B. This procedure contains three tasks:
(1)
The replacement of the inner cylinder seals with the spare seals (lift the airplane with the jacks or lower the gear on a pit)
(2)
The replacement of the inner cylinder seals and the spare seals
(3)
The replacement of the inner cylinder seals with the spare seals. (without the use of the airplane jack)
C.
You can repair the seal leaks in the shock strut with the replacement of the lower bearing seals. You can find the spare seals in the grooves of the lower bearing. You can use the spare seals for the first and second seal replacement. The removal of the inner cylinder or other primary components for the seal replacement is not necessary.
D.
Disconnect the truck beam from the inner cylinder yoke and move the seals through the yoke for more seal replacements. You put MIL-H-5606 fluid on the edge of the replacement seals which have four marks. And put BMS 3-11 fluid on the replacement seals which have three marks.
