After 10 days deflate the shock strut and add oil until it is completely full. Then service the shock strut with nitrogen (AMM 12-15-04/301).

8. Scraper Ring Inspection And Optional Split Scraper Ring Installation for body_____________________________________________________________________________ Landing Gear (Fig. 202)____________
A. General
(1)
In several instances, scraper ring damage was found during servicing to install the spare seals. In some instances, a portion of the scraper ring was found protruding through the gland nut. In correcting these problems, some operators removed the landing gear from the airplane and disassembled the gear to install new seals and a new scraper ring. This procedure introduces an optional split scraper ring which can be installed without the removal of the gear or disassembly of the gear. Also, this procedure has two quick checks to examine the scraper ring while the landing gear is on the airplane.

These optional split scraper rings permit the operators to activate the spare seals or replace a damaged scraper ring without the removal of the gear or disassembly of the gear. These scraper rings have a beveled scarf joint which opens the ring to install around the inner cylinder of the gear.
(3)
The use of these optional split scraper rings is not recommended for the gear overhaul. The split scraper ring is for temporary replacement only. When you disassemble the gear, you must use the production scraper ring.
