CAUTION: DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR OR OTHER PRESSURIZED FLUIDS TO CLEAN
_______ THE FLOW FUSE. IF YOU CLEAN THE FLOW FUSE WITH HIGH PRESSURE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INNER COMPONENTS OF THE FUSE. THIS CAN CAUSE THE FLOW FUSE TO OPERATE INCORRECTLY.
(1)
Clean the flow fuse (7) with solvent:
(a)
Flush the flow fuse(7) with acetone.
(b)
Make the flow fuse (7) dry with a clean cloth to remove all signs of the acetone.

Soak the O-ring (6) with hydraulic fluid.

Install the O-ring (6) on the flow fuse (7).

Apply a light layer of petrolatum to the O-ring (6).

Make the extension of the pin (8) the same on each side of the flow fuse (7) (View B).
NOTE: The difference in the extensions must be less than 0.005

Install the flow fuse (7):
(a)
Put the flow fuse (7) in the port of the shock strut.
(b)
Tighten the flow fuse (7) to 8-13 pound-feet.
(c)
Install a lockwire.

Install the shutoff valve (9):
(a)
Connect the shutoff valve (9) to the flow fuse (7).
(b)
Align the shutoff valve (9) with the hydraulic tube.
(c)
Connect the hydraulic tube to the shutoff valve (9).
(d)
Tighten all the connections.
(8)
Open the shutoff valve (9) with a 3/16-inch hex wrench.
(9)
Do a full servicing on the shock strut (Ref 12-15-04/301).
(10)
Make sure the pressure gage (3) operates correctly.

6. Clogged Flow Fuse Repair

A. General
(1)
This procedure is applicable only when the shock strut does not agree with the curve on the servicing placard. Also, the pressure at the air valve must be different from the indication on the strut pressure gage.
