BODY LANDING GEAR SHOCK STRUT - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
_____________________________________________________
1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains seven tasks:
(1)
The removal of the pressure gage from the shock strut
(2)
The installation of the pressure gage on the shock strut
(3)
The removal of the flow fuse and the shutoff valve from the shock strut
(4)
The installation of the flow fuse and the shutoff valve on the shock strut
(5)
The repair of a clogged flow fuse.
(6)
An inspection for seal leaks.
(7)
Inspection for scraper rings and replacement of the damaged scraper rings with optional split scraper rings.
B.
A pressure gage, a flow fuse, and a shutoff valve are on the shock strut of the body landing gear. The pressure gage gives a visual indication of the pressure in the shock strut. The flow fuse prevents fluid leakage if the gage or the hydraulic tube have damage. To isolate the pressure gage for servicing, you can use the shutoff valve to stop pressure from the shock strut.
