Put a thin layer of grease on the truck pivot bolt, pivot nut, and splined washer, and on the bushings in the shock strut and wheel truck.
(b)
Install the thread protector on the pivot bolt.
(c)
Install the pivot bolt through the shock strut and wheel truck.
(d)
Remove the thread protector from the pivot bolt.
(e)
Install the splined washer and pivot nut on the pivot bolt.
(f)
Tighten the pivot nut to 960 to 1200 pound-inches.

(g) Install the lockbolt, washer, and self locking nut.

WARNING: YOU MUST HOLD THE SHOCK STRUT IN A VERTICAL POSITION WHEN THE
_______ LANDING GEAR IS REMOVED FROM THE AIRPLANE. THE SHOCK STRUT CAN FALL OVER IF IT IS NOT HELD VERTICALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Remove the overhead mechanical equipment.

Connect the brake rods to the shock strut.
(a)
Apply a layer of grease to the surfaces and threads of the pivot bolts, nuts, and washers.
(b)
Install the bolts with the bolt heads pointed away from the shock strut.
(c)
Tighten the nuts to 144 to 720 pound-inches.
(d)
Install the lockbolts.

Connect the steering yoke to the shock strut.
(a)
Apply a thin layer of grease to the yoke attach pin, splined washer, and nut.
(b)
Put the steering yoke in its position on the shock strut, and install the yoke attach pin, washer, and nut.
(c)
Tighten the nut with these steps: 1) Tighten the nut to 960 to 1200 pound-inches. 2) Loosen the nut, then tighten it again by hand. 3) Tighten the nut with sufficient additional torque to align
the nearest castellations.
(d)
Install the electrical bracket, and install the lockbolt , washer, and nut.

Connect the truck positioner actuator to the shock strut.
(a)
Put the actuator in its position on the shock strut.
(b)
Install the bolt, clamp-up bushings, nylon spacers, washer, and nut.
(c)
Tighten the nut to 600 to 1200 pound-inches.
(d)
If it is necessary, loosen the nut a small amount to align the first castellations.
(e)
Install the cotter pin.
