Rub the open surfaces of the inner cylinder (13) and the lower bearing (12) with hydraulic fluid specified on tbe shock strut nameplate.
(c)
Lift up the spare seals (3) and (4).
(d)
Apply a light layer of hydraulic assembly lubricant on the seals.
(e)
You carefully move the seal (4) up into the groove at the top of the lower bearing.
(f)
Use the blunt nonmetallic tool if it is necessary.
(g)
Examine that the seal is not twisted.

Install the backup rings (11) and make sure that they touch the inner cylinder surface.
(i)
Carefully lift the seal (3) up into the outer groove of the lower bearing.
(j)
Install the backup rings (7).

Install the axle jacks below each end of the truck beam (AMM 07-11-03/201).

Install the lower bearing assembly.
(a)
Move the seal retainer, the lower bearing, the scraper ring and the scraper ring together.
(b)
They fit tightly with no clearance between the parts.
(c)
Examine the seals are not twisted.
(d)
Put the gland nut (9), the scraper ring and the lower bearing assembly on top of each other.
(e)
Measure the height and get the dimension as the dimension A (Fig. 802).
CAUTION: KEEP THIS TOOL IN ITS POSITION WHILE YOU INSTALL PARTS.

THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO SEALS.
(f)
Lubricate the seal guide tool with applicable hydraulic fluid.
(g)
Move the assembled parts up into the outer cylinder (2) as much as possible by hand.
(h)
Lubricate the inner surfaces of the gland seating tool.
(i)
Set the tool halves 180 degrees apart on the inner cylinder (13).
(j)
Apply force to the gland seating tool to put the assembled parts in the outer cylinder (2). 1) Use the jacks installed below the truck to lift the truck
symmetrical. 2) Lift the truck until the gland nut (9) on the yoke touches the seating tool.
WARNING:_______DO NOT APPLY UNWANTED FORCE WITH THE JACKS. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE YOKE, THE GLAND NUT AND THE SEATING TOOL. IT CAN ALSO CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
3) Carefully lift the truck.
4) Carefully push the assembled parts into the outer cylinder
(2) until the parts move into the outer cylinder (2). 5) During the jack, make sure it moves freely.

6) Examine that not too much force is applied to the seating tool through the gland nut (9) and the yoke.
NOTE: Resistance will increase because of the seal
____ friction while the seal (6) moves into the seal guide tool. The resistance will decrease after the seal is through the guide.
(k)
Release the jack pressure lightly and remove the gland seating tool and the seal guide tool.

FLUSH THE MATERIAL FROM THE SKIN OR FROM THE EYES IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. PROVIDE MEDICAL AID TO ANY PERSON WITH AN INJURY IMMEDIATELY.
