(1)
Install the hydraulic fittings in the actuator (Fig. 401):
(a)
Lubricate the adapter fittings (13 and 19), the new O-rings (14 and 20) and the new backup rings (15 and 21) with Skydrol Assembly Lube.

(b) Install the adapter fittings (13 and 19), the new O-rings (14 and 20) and the new backup rings (15 and 21) in the actuator (1).

(2) Install the actuator (Fig. 401):
CAUTION: LOOK AT THE PART NUMBER TO MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE
_______ CORRECT DOWNLOCK ACTUATOR. ALSO LOOK AT THE CAUTION DECAL ON THE DOWNLOCK ACTUATOR. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE CORRECT ACTUATOR, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a)
Tighten the two bleed plugs (28) at the rod end of the actuator.
(b)
Install the safety wires (29) on the bleed plugs.
(c)
Manually retract the actuator.
(d)
Fill the actuator with the fire-resistant hydraulic fluid and install caps on the ports.
(e)
Lubricate the bolt shanks (27), the washer faces (22), and the bushing faces with the grease.
(f)
Connect the head end of the actuator to the lower side strut with the bolt (27).
NOTE: The UNLOCK port must be away from the strut.

(g)
Install the washer (22) and the nut (23).
(h)
Tighten the nut (23) to 600 - 1200 pound-inches
(67.8 - 135.6 nm).
(i)
Loosen the nut (23) to the nearest castellation and install the cotter pin (24).
(j)
Lubricate the washer faces (4), the bolt shank (3) and the bushing faces with the grease.
(k)
Install the bolt (3) in the rod end with the nylon washers (17) adjacent to the bearing.
(l)
Make sure the tang on the washer (4) is in the slot.
(m)
Install the nut (5).
(n)
Tighten the nut (5) to 600 - 1200 pound-inches
(67.8 - 135.6 nm).
(o)
Loosen the nut (5) to the nearest castellation and install the cotter pin (6).
(p)
Lubricate the grease fittings (2 and 26) in each bolt head.
(q)
Remove the caps and connect the hydraulic lines (16 and 25) to the actuator.
