3. Wing Gear Actuator Walking Beam
_______________________________
A. The wing gear actuator walking beam (Fig. 1) works in conjunction with the wing gear actuator, to retract and extend the wing gear assembly. The walking beam serves to reduce the reaction force going into the airplane structure from the actuator. This is done by taking the reaction force of the actuator back to the trunnion through the walking beam.
B. The beam is attached to the upper of two sets of lugs on the shock strut trunnion. The outboard end is attached to a support link, which is hinged to airplane structure. The cylinder end of the actuator pivots in the beam and the piston rod end attaches to lower lugs on the shock strut trunnion. With wing gear down and locked, the walking beam-trunnion attachment lugs are above and slightly inboard of trunnion centerline. The actuator attachment to the trunnion is below and outboard of the trunnion centerline.
4. Wing Gear Sequence Valves
_________________________
A. Sequence valves positioned by the movement of the wing gear wheel well doors, the gear and gear locks ensure that the doors open and close and that the gear retracts and extends in the correct sequence. The valves are of the slide and sleeve type.
B. The door-operated sequence valve controls flow of hydraulic fluid to the uplock actuator, the downlock actuator, and the main gear actuator. It is located on the aft wall of the wing gear wheel well and actuated by the upper end of the wing gear door radius rod. Identical sequence valves are used in the nose gear and body gear systems as well as the wing gear system. The mechanisms which actuate the valves vary with the installation.
C. The downlock-operated sequence valve controls the flow of hydraulic fluid to the open side of the door actuator is hydraulically interconnected to the uplock-operated sequence valve. The sequence valve is mounted at the top of the wing gear upper side strut and is actuated by a striker arm mounted to the strut. An identical downlock-operated sequence valve but with different actuating mechanism is used in the body gear system.
