These conditions are necessary for this task:
(a)
Electrical power is available (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(b)
Hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4 are servicable
(AMM 29-11-00/201).
(c)
Permit the internal and external temperatures of the airplane to become stable.
(d)
The Electronic Interface Unit (EIU) is servicable (AMM 31-61-01/401).
(e)
The Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) system is serviceable (AMM 31-61-00/501).

Prepare to Do the Test of the Control System for the Landing Gear

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE GROUND LOCKS IN ALL LANDING GEAR.
_______ ACCIDENTAL RETRACTION OF THE LANDING GEAR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Make sure you install ground locks in all landing gear
(AMM 09-11-00/201).

Make sure the control lever for the landing gear is in the OFF position.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P7 Overhead Panel
1) 7A03 AURAL WARN L
2) 7A04 AURAL WARN R

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Supply power to hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do a Test of the Control System for the Landing Gear.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE AWAY FROM THE
_______ LANDING GEAR AND DOOR OPERATION AREA. FAST MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR AND DOORS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Do a test of the control system for the landing gear.
(a)
Put a strip of masking tape vertically along the side of the slot for the control lever.
(b)
Hold a thin (approximately 0.03 inch thick) straightedge horizontally across the slot in the P2-3 panel.
NOTE: Touch the lower surface of the control lever while you
____ pull the lever out of the module but keep it in the OFF position.
(c) Make a mark on the masking tape at the top edge of the straightedge to make a note of the OFF position.

(d) Make a second index mark on the masking tape at a point 0.5 inches above the OFF index mark.
NOTE:____ This will show the minimum lever movement necessary before the landing gear doors start to open.
(e) (f) Make sure that all persons are clear of the landing gear doors.Move the control lever to the UP position.
NOTE:____ The lock override mechanism will not let you move the control handle to the UP position.
(g) (h) 1) Make sure the lock override mechanism will not let you move the control lever to the UP position.Push the LOCK OVERRIDE button for the control lever.Move the control lever slowly to the UP position.
NOTE:____ Follow the movement of the lower surface of the control lever with the straightedge held horizontally.
(i) (j) (k) (l) Make sure the top edge of the straightedge gets to the second index mark on the masking tape: 1) Before the door open indication comes into view on the GEAR synoptic display on the EICAS.When the door open indication comes into view on the GEAR synoptic display on the EICAS, do these steps: 1) Move the control lever to the UP position 2) Make sure that the gear doors open fully.Move the control lever from the UP position to the OFF position.Put a new strip of masking tape vertically along the side of the slot for the control lever.
