(h) Do the following alternate steps to install the control module without the removal of the control display unit: 1) Make sure the control handle is in the "OFF" position. 2) Attach a thin string (2 to 3 ft long) to the end of the
control rod. 3) Insert the other end of the string through the hole in the handle swivel joint of the module to be installed.
4) Use the string to help the control rod into the swivel joint of the handle trunnion while you push the module into its position.
NOTE: The alignment pin helps electrical connectors D12461
____ and D12462 into their position. The connectors make a connection when you push the module into its position.
5) Remove the string.
6) Install the nut that attaches the rod to the handle
trunnion. 7) Tighten the nut while you hold the rod with a screwdriver. 8) Tighten the nut to 30-50 lb-inches torque.
(i)
Make sure the control handle is in the OFF position.
(j)
Make sure the rigging pins in the two selector valve quadrants are free for removal.
(k)
Attach the control module case to the structure with the attach screws.
(l)
Install the face plate on the module with nylon washers and screws.

Remove rigging pin LG-1 from the selector valve quadrant of the wing landing gear.

Remove rigging pin LG-2 from the selector valve quadrant for the nose landing gear and the body landing gear.

Do a Check of the Control Handle Module.

Do the steps that follow to make sure the control lever module is installed correctly:
(a)
Move the lever into and out of all detents. The lever must move smoothly with no interference, scraping or binding. When you release the lever at each detent, it must go into the detent without using any extra force.

(b) With the lever in the extended position, push the lock override button and move the lever through its full travel. The lever must move smoothly with no interference, scraping or binding. When you release the button, it should return to the fully extended position with no interference, scraping or binding.
