WEATHER RADAR INDICATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is to remove the weather radar (WXR) indicator, the second task is to install the WXR indicator.
B. The WXR indicator is installed on a tray in the forward electronic panel (P8). The tray has a locking lever at the forward edge that keeps the indicator in the tray.

2. WXR Indicator Removal_____________________

(1) Location Zone

B. Procedure

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) WEATHER RADAR AC
2) WEATHER RADAR DC

(2) Remove the WXR indicator:
(a)
Pull forward on the handle which is on the bottom of the WXR indicator.
(b)
Turn the locking latch to the right.
(c)
Pull the WXR indicator forward to get access to the electrical connector.
(d)
Disconnect the electrical connector.
(e)
Remove the WXR indicator from the tray.
(f)
Put dust caps on the electrical connectors.

(1) Location Zone

C. Procedure

(1) Make sure these circuit breakers are open with DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
(a) P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) WEATHER RADAR AC
2) WEATHER RADAR DC

(2) Install the WXR indicator:
(a)
Remove the dust caps from the electrical connectors.
(b)
Turn the locking latch, on the tray, to the right.
(c)
Move the WXR indicator on the tray until you can connect the electrical connector.
(d)
Connect the electrical connector.
(e)
Continue to move the WXR indicator in the tray until the guide pin at the rear engages.
(f)
Turn the locking latch to the left to lock the WXR indicator in its tray.
(g)
Push the handle on the WXR indicator until it is under the indicator.

(3) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a) P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) WEATHER RADAR AC
2) WEATHER RADAR DC

(4) Do the operational test of the weather radar system
(AMM 34-41-00/501).
