MARKER BEACON RECEIVER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General

A. This subject has three tasks; a removal, an installation, and a test of the marker beacon receiver.
B. The marker beacon receiver is installed on the E2-4 shelf in the electronic equipment compartment.

(1) Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) P18 Load Control Center - Left
1) MARKER BEACON

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE
_______ MARKER BEACON RECEIVER. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE FROM YOUR BODY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MARKER BEACON RECEIVER.
(2) Do this task to remove the marker beacon receiver from the E2-4 shelf: "Remove the Rack Mounted E/E Box" (Ref 20-10-07/201).

(a) P18 Load Control Center - Left

Do this task to install the marker beacon receiver on the E2-4 shelf: "Install" the Rack Mounted E/E Box" (Ref 20-10-07/201).

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker:

4. Marker Beacon Receiver Test___________________________

Do this task to supply electrical power: "Manual Control" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Do the marker beacon receiver test:
(a)
Put the ramp test set approximately 15 feet away from the marker beacon antenna.
(b)
Turn on the ramp test set.
(c)
Set the ramp test set to supply a 75 MHz signal with 400 Hz modulation. 1) Make sure the light for the OUTER marker beacon on the
captains' instrument panel comes on.
(d)
Turn off the ramp test set.

(3) Do this task to remove electrical power if it is not necessary: "Manual Control" (Ref 24-22-00/201).
