3. System Test - VOR/ILS Navigation System

A. General
(1)
The system test uses a ramp test set to supply VOR and ILS test signals. These test signals are used to do an inspection of the VOR/ILS navigation system. This task makes sure the VOR/ILS navigation system operates correctly.

ILS Frequency Interference Test
(d)
VOR Test
(e)
LOC Test
(f)
Glide Slope Test.
B. Standard Tools and Equipment
(1) VOR/ILS Ramp Test Set - 972Q-4; Collins, Cedar Rapid, Iowa, or NAV-401L; Instrument & Flight Research Inc, Witchita, KS.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(b)
Close these circuit breakers:
1) P18 Load Control Center - Left a) INSTR XFMR-1 b) VHF NAV-1 VOR/ILS c) DAA NO. 1 FMC AC d) DAA NO. 1 IRS AC e) DAA NO. 1 IRS DC f) DAA FMC NO. 1
2) P6 Load Control Center - Right a) INSTR XFMR-2 b) VHF NAV-2 VOR/ILS

Open these circuit breakers:
1) P18 Load Control Center - Left a) RADIO ALTM-1
2) P6 Load Control Center - Right a) RADIO ALTM-2
Set these transfer switches as follows:
1) EFI transfer switch - NORMAL
2) IRS transfer switch - NORMAL
3) VHF NAV transfer switch - NORMAL.
Set the HSI mode selectors on the left and right EFIS control
panels to FULL VOR/ILS.
Align the inertial reference system (AMM 34-28-01/201).
Set the course counter on the DFCS mode control panel to the
airplane heading that shows on the compass rose.
1) Make sure the course arrows on the two EHSIs agree with the course counter.
Set the VOR/ADF switches on the two RDDMIs to VOR.
1) Make sure the VOR pointer annunciators show on the two RDDMIs.
Set the mode selector on the captain's standby attitude/ILS
indicator to the ILS position.
1) Make sure the G/S and LOC flags show on the captain's standby attitude/ILS indicator.
Set up the ramp test set to supply a 0° radial signal with a 1020Hz modulation at a frequency of 108.00 Mhz.
NOTE: When using the Instrument Flight Research NAV-401L test
____ set, the "to/from" switch must be in the "from" position.
