E. System Shutdown Procedures
(1)
On weather radar control panel set controls and switches to following positions.
(a)
TILT control - zero.
(b)
GAIN control - CAL.
(c)
Press STAB pushbutton in.
(d)
IDNT pushbutton - not depressed
(e)
Mode select - TEST
(2)
On EFIS control panel press set controls and switches to the following positions.
(a)
BRT control midscale
(b)
RANGE switch to 80.
(c)
WXR power to off.
(d)
Shut down inertial reference system (Ref 34-28-01).
(e)
Remove external electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00, Maintenance Practices - Apply Power).

WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. General_______
A. This subject contains one task: the trouble shooting procedure. The trouble shooting procedure uses the self test circuits of the weather radar to start the procedure. When a failure message shows, the failure isolation procedures are used to find the LRU that must to be replaced.
B. The monitor circuits identify most system malfunctions, and show
alphanumeric messages on the EHSIs. See Fig. 101.
C. During self test when the TEST mode is selected, the weather radar system is examined by the self test. The receiver/transmitter circuits operate for one second and then are muted. The self test continues with a tilt and scan test. A tilt and scan test is performed and ends with the antenna electronically locked in the boresight position. A test pattern of four concentric colored bands and magenta wedges in the center and each side shows on the EHSIs (Fig. 101).
D. The R/T front panel on those units without predictive windshear has an elapsed time counter, and may have an OVERTEMP indicator, and an overtemp RESET switch. The R/T front panel on those units with predictive windshear do not have an elapsed time counter,or the overtemperature indicator and reset switch.

If an elapsed time counter is installed it shows the number of hours of operation.
(2)
If an OVERTEMP indicator is installed, it is not operational.
(3)
If and overtemp RESET switch is installed, it is not operational.
