 TRANSFER SWITCHES - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A. This subject has four tasks:
 (1)  
The first task is the removal of the VHF NAV transfer switch.

 (2)  
The second task is the installation and test of the VHF NAV transfer switch.

 (3)  
The third task is the removal of the HSI transfer switch.

 (4)  
The fourth task is the installation and test of the HSI transfer switch.

 TASK 34-31-81-004-001
 2.  VHF NAV Transfer Switch Removal_______________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
The VHF NAV transfer switch is a part of the instrument switching module. To replace the VHF NAV transfer switch, replace the instrument switching module.

 (2)  
The instrument switching module is on the forward overhead panel (P5).

 B. Access
 (1)  Location Zone
 101, 102 Control Cabin

 C. Procedure
 S 864-002
 (1)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  
P18 Load Control Center - Left
 1) INSTR XFR

 (b)  
P6 Load Control Center - Right
 1) OVERHEAD 28V PRIMARY

 

 S 024-003
 (2)  Remove the instrument switching module:
 (a)  
Remove the edge light panel from the module.

 (b)  
Remove the screws from the module.

 (c)  
Pull the module from the panel to get access to electrical connectors on the rear of the module.

 (d)  
Disconnect the electrical connectors from the module.

 3.  VHF NAV Transfer Switch Installation____________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
The VHF NAV transfer switch is part of the instrument switching module. To replace the VHF NAV transfer switch, replace the instrument switching module.

 (2)  
The instrument switching module is on the forward overhead panel (P5).

 (1)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  
P18 Load Control Center - Left
 1) INSTR XFR

 (b)  
P6 Load Control Center - Right

 (2)  Install the instrument switching module:
 (a)  
Make sure the electrical connectors on the module are not loose, bent, or broken.

 (b)  
Connect the electrical connectors to the module.

 (c)  
Put the module into the panel.

 (d)  
Install the screws into the front of the module.

 (e)  
Install the edge light panel.

 S 864-007
 (3) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
 (a)  
P18 Load Control Center - Left
 1) INSTR XFR

 (b)  
P6 Load Control Center - Right
