 8.  EFI Select Switch_________________
 A.  The EFI select switch is an integral part of an instrument switching module located on the pilot's forward overhead panel.
 B.  The EFI select switch controls the outputs of the symbol generators to the captain's or first officer's EHSIs. In the NORMAL position, the captain's EHSI is driven by the left symbol generator and the first officer's EHSI is driven by the right symbol generator. When the switch is in the BOTH ON 1 position, both EHSI's are driven by the left symbol generator. In the BOTH ON 2 position, the EHSI's are driven by the right symbol generator.
 9.  IRS Select Switch_________________
 A.  The IRS select switch is an integral part of an instrument switching module located on the pilot's forward overhead panel.
 B.  The IRS select switch provides selection of IRS attitude data to the receiver transmitter from the left or right IRS (Ref 34-28-01).
 10. Operation_________
 A.  General
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR WHILE THE AIRPLANE IS BEING
_______ REFUELED OR DEFUELED AND DO NOT OPERATE IN ANY RADIATING MODE WHILE A FUELING OPERATION IS BEING CONDUCTED WITHIN 200 FEET OF THE ANTENNA OR AN EXPLOSION MAY OCCUR.
DO NOT OPERATE THE WEATHER RADAR IN A HANGAR OR OTHER ENCLOSURE.
PERSONNEL MUST NOT ENTER AN AREA CLOSER THAN 50 FEET IN FRONT OF A RADIATING ANTENNA OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: WHEN THE WEATHER RADAR IS OPERATED IN ANY MODE OTHER THAN
_______ TEST, DIRECT THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE SO THE FORWARD 180-DEGREE SECTOR IS FREE OF LARGE METALLIC OBJECTS (HANGARS, TRUCKS, OTHER AIRPLANES, ETC) FOR A DISTANCE OF 300 FEET OR DAMAGE TO RECEIVER MAY OCCUR.
 (1) Weather radar operation consists of: B. Normal operation,
 C. Functional description, D. System Self-Test, and E. System Shutdown procedures. Normal operations describe normal startup operations of the weather radar system. The Functional description is a more in depth description of the system components and their interface. The self-test procedures are described using the weather radar system test switch. The system shutdown procedures are performed when weather radar operations are completed.
 B.  Normal Operation
 (1)
Prior to operation perform the following:

 (a)
Check WEATHER RADAR, EFIS and IRS circuit breakers (on P6-1 panel) are closed.

 (b)
Check inertial reference system IRS-1 and IRS-2 are in NAV (navigate) mode (Ref 34-28-01).

 (2)
Position the controls on the weather radar control panel as follows:

 (a)  GAIN control to CAL.

 (b)
RANGE switch to 80.

 (c)
Select mode EXP VOR/ILS, MAP, CTR MAP or NAV.

 (d)
Press WXR to on.

 (4)
After a 15 second warm-up period, the system will go through a self-test sequence. A test pattern appears on the EHSI and the antenna sweeps left-right, up-down, and stops dead ahead.

 (5)
The R/T unit generates RF pulses for transmission and sends them to the antenna via the waveguide. The reflected RF is returned to the R/T for processing (Fig. 2 and 3).
