LRRA ANTENNA - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks, a removal and an installation of the LRRA antennas. The installation task also has a procedure to do a check of the bond resistance between the antenna and the airplane surface.
B. After you disconnect the antenna cables, make sure you connect them correctly.
C. These tasks apply to the transmit and the receive antennas.

2. LRRA Antenna Removal (Fig. 401)____________________
A. Access
(1) Location Zone
200 Lower Half of Fuselage
B. Procedure
S 864-002
(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) RADIO ALTM - 2
(b)
P18 Load Control Center - Left
1) RADIO ALTM - 1
S 024-003
(2) Remove the LRRA antenna:
(a)
Remove the screws that connect the antenna to the airplane structure.
(b)
Lower the antenna until you can get access to the coaxial connector(s).
(c)
Disconnect the coaxial cable(s) from the antenna.
(d)
Remove the antenna and gasket.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE ANTENNA GASKET IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND THE
_______ FAYING SURFACES ARE CLEAN. A BAD CONNECTION CAN CAUSE AN INCORRECT SYSTEM OPERATION.
(2) Do a check of the antenna gasket:
(a) Replace the antenna gasket if it shows cracks or shows signs of corrosion.
