 TRANSFER RELAYS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This subject has two tasks. The first task is the removal of the transfer relay. The second task is the installation and test of the transfer relay.
 B.  These are the relays included in this subject:
 (1)  
Two antenna transfer relays:

 (a)  
ILS transfer relay No. 1 (R315)

 (b)  
ILS transfer relay No. 2 (R316).

 

 (2)  
Two VHF NAV transfer relays:

 (a)  
VHF NAV transfer relay No. 1 (R44)

 (b)  
VHF NAV transfer relay No. 2 (R45).

 2.  Antenna Transfer Relay Removal______________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  The antenna transfer relays are installed on shelf 4 of the electronics equipment rack (E3).

 (1)  For the ILS transfer relay No. 1: Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 (a)  P18 Load Control Center - Left
 1) VHF NAV-1 VOR/ILS

 (2)  For the ILS transfer relay No. 2: Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 (a)  P6 Load Control Center - Right
 1) VHF NAV-2 VOR/ILS

 (3)  Remove the antenna transfer relay:
 (a)  If the RF attenuator is installed, do these steps: 1) Disconnect the coaxial cable from the RF attenuator.

 2) Remove the RF attenuator from the relay (Ref 34-31-91/401).
 (b)  
Disconnect the coaxial cables and electrical cables from the relay.

 (c)  
Remove the screws that attach the relay to the shelf.

 (d)  
Remove the antenna transfer relay from the shelf.

 (1)  The antenna transfer relays are installed on shelf 4 of the electronics equipment rack (E3).

 D. Procedure
 S 864-142
 (1)  For the ILS transfer relay No. 1: Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 (a)  P18 Load Control Center - Left
 1) VHF NAV-1 VOR/ILS

 (2)  For the ILS transfer relay No. 2: Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 (a)  P6 Load Control Center - Right
 1) VHF NAV-2 VOR/ILS

 S 424-076
 (3)  Install the antenna transfer relay:
 (a)  
Align the relay to the holes in the shelf.

 (b)  
Install the screws to attach the relay to the shelf.

 (c)  
If it is necessary: Install the RF attenuator on the relay (Ref 34-31-91/401).

 (d)  
Connect the coaxial cables and electrical cables to the relay and tighten with your hand.

 (4)  For the ILS transfer relay No. 1: Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker:
 (a)  P18 Load Control Center - Left
 1) VHF NAV-1 VOR/ILS
