The IND light is not used. The radio altiitude and DH displays on the EADIs take the place of a radio altimeter height indicator.


 C.  LRRA/Interface Systems Troubleshooting
 NOTE: AMM 34-48-03/001 - D&O for additional radio altitude
____ and decision height (DH) displays on the EADIs while the airplane is on the ground or in the approach mode.
 (1)  No on-ground radio altitude (-3 |3 feet) displayed on one or both EADI's and no RA yellow flag on one or both EADIs.
 (a)  Turn the EFIS transfer switch on the P5 overhead panel to the BOTH ON 1 position and then to the BOTH ON 2 position. 1) If a radio altitude of -3 |3 shows on both EADI's for the
 BOTH ON 1 position, EFIS symbol generator No. 2 (SG-2) may have faults. Go to the EFIS/Radio Altitude Troubleshooting.
 2)  If a radio altitude of -3 |3 shows on both EADI's for the BOTH ON 2 position, EFIS symbol generator No. 1 (SG-1) may have faults. Go to the EFIS/Radio Altitude Troubleshooting.
 D.  EFIS/Radio Altitude Troubleshooting
 (1)  
Turn the DH knob on the EFIS control panels to an ADI DH REF readout of 75.

 (2)  
Turn the EFIS transfer switch on the P5 overhead panel to the NORMAL position.

 (3)  
Gain access to the symbol generators SG-1 and SG-2 in the main equipment center E2-3 rack.

 (4)  
Press the TEST switch on each EFIS symbol generator in turn.


 (a)  Make sure the associated EADI shows the correct displays of DH 75 (green) and the symbol generator self-test altitude of 150 (white). 1) If the radio altitude is not 150 (white) or is missing,
 troubleshoot the EFIS system (AMM 34-22-00/101), or replace the applicable EFIS symbol generator (AMM 34-22-41/401).

 2)  If DH 75 (green) is not displayed, go the Radio Altitude/ DH Alert Troubleshoolting.
 E.  Radio Altitude/DH Alert Troubleshooting
 (1)  
Set the EFIS transfer switch on the P5 overhgead panel to the NORMAL position.

 (2)  
Press and hold the TEST switch on the EFIS symbol generators.

 (a)  The symbol generator self-test radio altitude of 150 (white) shows on the EADI.

 (3)  
Rotate the DH control knob on the EFIS control panels to a DH of 150 (+ or -10) feet and look at the DH display on the EADIs.

 (a)  The DH value goes blank and the letters DH and the radio altitude flash yellow for 3 seconds. If not, troubleshoot the EFIS system (AMM 34-22-00/101), or replace the applicable EFIS control panel (AMM 34-22-11/401).

 (4)  
With the TEST switch on the EFIS symbol generators released, look for these indications on the EADIs:

 (a)  
The radio altitude changes to -3 |3 feet (white). If not, make a check of the radio altitude bus to the applicable symbol generator.

 (b)  
The DH numerical value is the same as the DH readout on the applicable EFIS control panel. If not, make a check of the DH 429 bus from the EFIS control panel to the EFIS symbol generator.

 


 F.  EFIS EADI faults effect on radio altitude and DH:
 (1)  Refer to 34-22-00/101 to troubleshoot these EADI faults:
 (a)  
No display of any data, symbols, or characters on the EADI.

 (b)  
All data, symbols, and characters displayed in one color on the EADI. .


 G.  Put the airplane in its usual condition at the completion of troubleshooting.
