WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This subject contains three tasks: the operational test, the system test, and the system shutdown procedure. The operational test uses the self test circuits to make sure the weather radar system is serviceable. The system test makes sure all function of the weather radar operate correctly. The system shutdown procedure is used to set the weather radar system and other related airplane equipment back to their usual condition.

2. Operational Test - Weather Radar System_______________________________________
A. General
_______
(1)
The operational test has these parts:
(a)
The prepare for a weather radar system operational test.
(b)
The weather radar system self test.
(c)
The test of the antenna TILT control.
(2)
The self-test uses the TEST switch on the WXR control panel or indicator. In the TEST mode, the self-test circuits monitor the performance of the weather radar system.
(3)
The weather radar control panel is referred to as the WXR control panel.
(4)
During the self test the weather radar system operates as follows:
(a)
It makes a test pattern which finds most system failures without test equipment.
(b)
The receiver/transmitter operates for 1 second.
(c)
A special test pattern is made on the EHSIs.
