F. Code Reception Test

CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE CODES 7500, 7600-7677, 7700-7777 . THESE ARE EMERGENCY CODES.
(1) Set these switches on ATC control panel as follows:
-Altitude Reporting Switch - OFF
-Code Switches - Same as the test set code
-Transponder Select Switch - Applicable ATC System.
NOTE: A strong signal from a nearby ground beacon can make the test

results to be incorrect.

(2) Set the code selection on the ATC control panel and the test set to code compliment.
NOTE:____Compliment of the code is 7777 minus the code. This is a test of the full code capability of the transponder.
EXAMPLE: If the code is 0340, its compliment is:
7777 - 0340 = 7437 Compliment

(3) Push the IDENT switch on the ATC control panel when the mode A flag on the test set is in view.
(a) Make sure the IDENT flag and CODE flag is blinking.
G. Altitude Reporting Test

On the ATC control panel, set the altitude reporting switch to ON.

On the test set, set the function selector control to the mode C position.
(a) Make sure the test set shows the mode C flag.

(3) Connect the air data test set to the pitot static system.
NOTE: Follow the procedures of the pitot static system

Adjust the altimeters to 29.92 inches of mercury.

Use the air data test set and the altitude reporting code list (Fig. 501) and apply a static pressure to get the test altitudes between 0 and 35,000 feet.
NOTE: For each test altitude, set the applicable code on the
____ 476X-3 test set. The test set will show the mode C code flag when the test altitude is supplied by the air data test set.
(a) Make sure the binary code lines (A1 thru C4 and D4) between the transponder and the altitude source are not open or shorted to ground. 1) Make sure the applicable altimeter is in tolerance
(AMM 34-12-00 for airplanes without EFIS), or (AMM 34-12-01 for airplanes with EFIS).

NOTE: A D4 pulse check is needed when the test altitude is
