VOR/ILS NAVIGATION SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is an operational test of the VOR/ILS navigation system. The second task is a system test of the VOR/ILS navigation system.

2. Operational Test - VOR/ILS Navigation System____________________________________________
A. General
(1)
The operational test does not use external test equipment. The task uses the local VOR station and the built-in test equipment (BITE) of the VOR/ILS navigation system.

This task contains these procedures:
(a)
Prepare for the Operational Test
(b)
Self-Test for System No. 1
(c)
Self-Test for System No. 2
(d)
VOR Flag Test
(e)
VHF NAV Transfer Switch Test
(f)
EHSI Annunciations Test

(1) Do the following steps for the operational test:
(a)
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(b)
Close these circuit breakers:
1) P18 Load Control Center - Left
a) VHF NAV-1 VOR/ILS
2) P6 Load Control Center - Right a) VHF NAV-2 VOR/ILS

(c)
Set these transfer switches as follows:
1) EFI transfer switch - NORMAL
2) IRS transfer switch - NORMAL
3) VHF NAV transfer switch - NORMAL.
(d)
Set the HSI mode selectors on the left and right EFIS control panels to FULL VOR/ILS.
(e)
Align the inertial reference system (AMM 34-28-01/201).
(f)
Set the VOR/ADF switches on the two RDDMIs to VOR.
1) Make sure the VOR pointer annunciators show on the two RDDMIs.
E. Self-Test for System No. 1
S 715-003
(1) Do the self-test for system No. 1:
(a)
Do the following steps for the operational test.
(b)
Set the course counter on the DFCS mode control panel to 000.
1) Make sure the course arrows on the two EHSIs agree with the course counter.
(c)
Set a local VOR frequency on the No. 1 VHF NAV control panel. 1) Make sure you hear the local VOR sound through the flight interphone system. 2) Make sure the course deviation bar and scale show on the captain's EHSI.
3) Make sure the narrow pointers on the RDDMIs show the bearing to the local VOR station.
(d)
Set the mode selector on the standby attitude/ILS indicator to the ILS position.
(e)
Set a frequency of 108.0 MHz on the No. 1 VHF NAV control panel. 1) Make sure these results occur on the captain's instruments:
a) The pointer flags show on the RDDMI b) EHSI annunciations and displays:
Course Deviation Scale . . . . . In View Course Deviation Bar . . . . . . Out of View To/From. . . . . . . . . . . . . Blank System/Number. . . . . . . . . . VOR 1 Frequency. . . . . . . . . . . . 108.00
