(8) Make sure the event that follow occurs:
(a)
Binary code lines (A1 thru C4) between the transponder and the altitude source are not open or shorted to ground.
(b)
Applicable altimeter is within tolerance (Ref 34-12-00).
(c)
At each test altitude, the difference in altitude between the test set and altimeter is not more than |125 feet.
NOTE: A test altitude above 30,800 feet is necessary for
____ the check of D4 pulse.
The altimeter can be adjusted to set the 125 ft tolerance only if the ATC test set continues to show the designated altitude.

5. System Test - ATC System - Using Instrument Flight Research ATC - 600A______________________________________________________________________
A. General
(1) The system test is a more complete check of the ATC system. The system test first does the ATC Operational Test. Then it uses a ramp test set to examine the left and the right ATC system.
B. Standard Tools and Equipment

Transponder/DME Ramp Test Set, IFR Model ATC-600A
(2)
Air Data Test set, Castleberry AT700-2, Castleberry Instr & Avionics, Austin, TX; or equivalent.

E. Prepare for the System Test
NOTE: The test set is a source of interference for radio and L-band
____ radar equipment. Turn the test set off as soon as the test is completed or when other near by airplane do radio checks.

NOTE: Test set antenna should be approximately the same height as
