(4) Open the applicable circuit breaker(s) for the LRRA system(s) that will be connected to the test set:
(a)
P18 Load Control Center - Left
1) RADIO ALTM-1 (for LRRA-1 system)
(b)
P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) RADIO ALTM-2 (for LRRA-2 system)

(5) Do these steps to set up the test set:
NOTE: It may be necessary to let the test circuits in the test

set to become stable (5 minutes).
(a)
Put the METER SWITCH in the VOLTS position.
(b)
Put the VOLTAGE MONITOR switch in the +35 position.
(c)
Put the row of toggle switches (7 total) in the center position.
(d)
Remove the test cable assembly from the compartment in the test set case.
(e)
Connect the test cable to the test connector on the front panel of the applicable R/T (LRRA-1 - captain's, LRRA-2 - first officer's).
(f)
Close the RADIO ALTM-1 or RADIO ALTM-2 circuit breaker for the LRRA system(s) connected to the test set. 1) Make sure the meter on the test set shows 35 |1
microamperes.
NOTE: The meter indication will be in volts.

(g)
Put the VOLTAGE MONITOR switch in the A/P position
(h)
Push the PUSH TO TEST switch: 1) The WARN and ALARM lamps light. 2) The meter on the test set must read approximately 1.2
microamperes.
(i)
Put the VOLTAGE MONITOR switch in the AUX position

(j) Push the PUSH TO TEST switch: 1) The WARN and ALARM lamps light. 2) The meter on the test set must read approximately 1.2
microamperes.

(6) Do this example of radio altitude simulation:
(a)
Put the TRIP MONITOR switch on the test set at the highest value (usually 8).
(b)
Turn the TRIP SETTING control slowly counterclockwise until the meter indication falls to zero. 1) AIRPLANES WITHOUT EFIS;
The radio altitude on the applicable HI must show the trip altitude (+/- 10 percent) set in the R/T for that fixed trip number.
2) AIRPLANES WITH EFIS; The radio altitude on the applicable EADI must show the trip altitude (+/- 10 percent) set in the R/T for that fixed trip number.

(7) Use the METER SWITCH, TRIP SETTING control, and TRIP MONITOR switch to do a check of the radio altitude fixed trips in the R/T.
NOTE: The system must have a zero altitude indication before a

check of the 10' fixed trips in the R/T.

(8) The TRIP SETTING control range is approximately 2500' (fully clockwise position) to below 0' (fully counterclockwise position).
NOTE: A Test Set Calibration Chart is in the instruction manual
____ for the test set. The chart converts the TRIP SETTING control position and the meter reading into equivalent radio altitude.
F. Put the Airplane in its Usual Condition

Put the row of toggle switches on the test set in the center position.

(3) S 082-058Disconnect the test cable(s) from the LRRA R/T(s).
