Install the fishpole hoist and the sling:
(a)
Wind off and examine the fishpole hoist cable or chains to make sure its condition is good.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE KEYHOLE SLOT AREA. A DAMAGED KEYHOLE SLOT AREA CAN CAUSE INCORRECT SUPPORT OF THE APU. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU.
(b)
Use a flashlight to examine the keyhole slot area for damage.
CAUTION: AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE HOIST IN THE KEYHOLE SLOT
_______ CAN CAUSE THE HOIST TO DISENGAGE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU.
DO NOT USE THE SUPPORT POINT FOR THE APU EXHAUST DUCT TO ENGAGE THE FISHPOLE HOIST KEY. THIS POINT IS ON THE TOP CENTERLINE OF THE APU COMPARTMENT STRUCTURE, APPROXIMATELY 13 INCHES (33 CM) AFT OF THE AFT APU HOIST POINT.
(c) Install the fishpole hoist in the keyhole slot in the top structure of the APU compartment:
NOTE: The aft hoist point is above and to the right of the
____ APU on a bracket between structural stations 2725.13 and 2733.89.
1) Attach the hoist block key from the left side of the keyhole bracket. 2) Visually make sure the hoist is correctly installed in the keyhole slot.
(d)
Connect the sling to the hoist and the ground handling lugs on the APU.
(e)
Tighten the hoist cable or chains to hold the APU during the removal of the support block.

Remove the support block (1) for the cone bolt:
(a)
Remove the cone bolt nut (7) and the washer (6).
(b)
Remove the nuts (5), the washers (4), the bolts (3), and the bushings (2) that attach the links (8) to the support block (1).

Disconnect the links (8) from the support block (1).
(d)
Remove the support block (1) for the cone bolt.

(6) Examine the conical surfaces of the cone bolt for damage or worn areas.
NOTE: Damage to the conical surfaces of the cone bolt can
____ include worn areas, fretting, pitting, galling, grooves, scratches, or nicks.
(a)
If you find damage on 25% or more on a part of the conical surface, then replace the shockmount (AMM 49-13-05/401).
(b)
If you find damage or worn areas that are more than 0.002 inch
(0.05 mm) below the surface finish, then replace the shockmount (AMM 49-13-05/401).
