(1)
Wire - A single, insulated, electrical connector.
(2)
Cable - A group of wires enclosed by an insulated jacket.
(3)
Bundle - A group of cables tied together with lacing tape.
(4)
Harness - A single bundle of two or more branched groups of bundles with connectors or terminal lugs attached to the ends of the bundles.

2. APU Wire Harness Repair_______________________
A. General
(1)
This procedure gives a repair for broken or damaged wires. These are the limits for wire repairs:
(a)
Do not make a splice in a wire less than 6 inches (150 mm) from the shell of a connector.
(b)
Do not make a splice adjacent to a splice.
(c)
Do not make more than two splice repairs on a wire.
(d)
Do not make a splice below a loop clamp position.
(e)
Do not put a splice in a fire detection circuit.
(f)
A cable that has a splice in it must be replaced when the harness is removed, or during the next shop visit.
(g)
A wire with a splice must be resistant to moistuare and damage due to friction.

Standard Tools and Equipment
(1)
Wire stripper - 16 to 20 gage, Strip Master 45092 (or equivalent). Ideal Industries, Inc., 1008 Becker Pl., Sycamore, IL 60178
(2)
Wire splice crimp tool - P/N WT-145A (or equivalent). Thomas and Betts Ltd., 6505 Mississauga Roads, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, L5N 1A6.
