(a)
Put the wire ends fully into the splice.
(b)
Tighten the splice with the crimp tool.
(c)
Pull on the wires to make sure the splice is correct.
S 418-015
(10)
Put the tape on the splice:
(a)
Move the inner ferrule near each end of the wire jacket.
(b)
Fold the end of the braided shield on the inner ferrule (View D, Fig 801). 1) Make sure the metal strands of the braided shield have the
same distance around the inner ferrule.
(c)
Wind the insulation tape around the full length of the splice with a 50% overlap (View E, Fig. 801).
(d)
Wind a second layer of the insulation tape on top of the first layer with a 50% overlap. 1) Make sure you wind the second layer in the opposite
direction of the first layer. 2) Make sure the tape is wound sufficiently tight to make a moisture resistant seal.
(e)
Wind the anti-chafing tape around the length of the insulation tape tape with a 50% overlap.
(f)
Put a second layer of the anti-chafing tape on the first layer: 1) Start the second layer of the anti-chafing tape around the wire insulation, 0.5 inches (13 mm) from the splice area. 2) Wind the second layer of the anti-chafing tape in the
opposite direction of the first layer with a 50% overlap. 3) Continue to wind the anti-chafing tape until the tape is
0.5 inches (13 mm) from the wire insulation.
S 418-016
(11)
Put the tape on the repair areas:
(a)
Put one end of the tubular braid on the folded part of the braided shield.
(b)
Move the outer ferrule directly on the tubular braid and the inner ferrule (View F, Fig. 801).
(c)
With the crimp tool, tighten the outer ferrule to the inner ferrule (View G, Fig. 801).

(d)
Put the other end of the tubular braid on the folded part of the braided shield. 1) Make sure the tubular braid is tight.
(e)
Move the outer ferrule directly on the tubular braid and the inner ferrule.
(f)
With the crimp tool, tighten the outer ferrule to the inner ferrule (View H, Fig. 801).
(g)
Remove the tubular braid material that is unwanted.
(h)
Wind the insulation tape around the length of the repair area with a 50% overlap (View I, Fig. 801).
(i)
Wind a second layer of the insulation tape around the length of the first layer with a 50% overlap. 1) Make sure you wind the second layer in the opposite
direction of the first layer.
(j)
Wind a third layer of the insulation tape around the length of the second layer with a 50% overlap. 1) Make sure you wind the third layer in the opposite
direction of the second layer.
(k)
Wind the anti-chafing tape around the length of the third layer of the insulation tape with a 50% overlap.
(l)
Start a second layer of the anti-chafing tape on the jacket,
1.0 inch (25 mm) from the first layer of the anti-chafing tape. 1) Make sure you wind the second layer in the opposite
direction of the first layer.
2) Make sure you use a 50% overlap.
(m)
Hold each end of the tape in position with the lacing tape (View I, Fig. 801).
(12)
Do a continuity check on the repaired wire.
(13)
Install the lacing tape and the loop clamps that you removed.

(14)
Close the APU access doors:
(a)
Do a visual check of the EGT bus bars:
1) Make sure the bus bars are not damaged.
