An APU shutdown occurs when the APU control switch is set to the OFF position. The APU continues to operate for approximately 60 seconds during its cool-down cycle. During the cool-down cycle, pneumatic and electrical loads are not available, the air inlet door closes and the APU fuel shutoff valve closes.

2. APU Starting and Operation (Fig. 201, Fig. 202)__________________________
A. General
(1) Fuel tank No. 2 must have a minimum of 2800 pounds (1270 kilograms) of fuel to start and operate the APU for one hour. Plan for an additional 750 pounds (340 kilograms) of fuel for each additional hour of operation. Airplane systems/operations requiring more fuel in tank No. 2 are more important than the APU system requirements.
