Prepare to Examine the APU Forward Supports and the Shockmounts

(1)
Open the APU access doors.
(a)
Open the latches on the APU access doors.
(b)
Open the APU access doors.
(c)
Engage the support rods for the APU access doors.

Examine the Forward Supports and the Shockmounts for Wear
S 036-016
(1) Remove the vertical support rods, the axial support rods, the lateral support rod, and the related parts (AMM 49-13-01/401).
NOTE: This procedure examines the bushings and the bolts that
____ connect the support rods to the shockmounts and the firewall brackets. It is not possible to fully examine these parts when they are installed.

Visually examine the support rods for cracks, corrosion, or damage.
(a)
Replace all the support rods that have cracks, corrosion, or damage.

(3)
Do a check of the bushings and the bolts between the support rods and the shockmounts (Fig. 601).
(a)
Remove the bushings from the shockmount end of the support rods.
(b)
Remove the bushings from the shockmounts.
(c)
Examine the bolts and the bushings for wear.
1) Replace all the parts that have more than the permitted quantity of wear shown in the table.
(d)
Install the bushings in the support rods and the shockmounts.

Do a check of the bushings and the bolts between the support rods and the firewall brackets (Fig. 601).
(a)
Remove the bushings from the firewall end of the support rods.
(b)
Remove the bushings from the firewall brackets.

Examine the bolts and the bushings for wear.
1) Replace all the parts that have more than the permitted quantity of wear shown in the table.
(d)
Install the bushings in the support rods and the firewall brackets.

Install the vertical support rods, the axial support rods, the lateral support rod, and the related parts (AMM 49-13-01/401).
E.
Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition
S 416-022
(1)
Close the APU access doors.
(a)
Do a visual check of the EGT bus bars: 1) Make sure the bus bars are not damaged. 2) Make sure no metal parts touch the bus bars. 3) Make sure the bus bars do not touch each other.
(b)
Disengage the support rods for the APU access doors.
(c)
Put the support rods in the clips on the inner side of the APU access doors.
(d)
Make sure the insulation covers attach correctly to the APU compartment firewall.
(e)
Close the APU access doors.
(f)
Close the latches on the APU access doors.
