(1) Apply the parting agent to the skin area around the bolt holes and the drain mast slot.

(2) S 344-011Apply a large quantity of the adhesive to the bottom of the drain mast (3) flange.
(3) S 424-025Install the drain mast (3): (a) Put the drain mast (3) in the slot. (b) Temporarily attach the mast with bolts and nuts.
NOTE:____ You can apply grease the bolts to prevent a bond between the adhesive and the bolts.
(c) (d) Equally tighten the bolts until the adhesive starts to come out from below the flange.Let the adhesive become hard.
NOTE:____ The cure time for the BMS 5-92 adhesive is: 24 hours at 65-100°F (18-38°C). 60 minutes | 10 minutes at 250°F | 10°F (121°C | 5°C). 130 minutes | 10 minutes at 160°F | 10°F (71°C | 4°C). 180 minutes | 10 minutes at 120°F | 10°F (49°C | 4°C).
(e) (f) (g) (h) (i) Remove the temporary nuts and the bolts.Attach the drain mast (3) with new bolts (1) and the collars (2).Apply the sealant around the drain mast (3) flange and the skin.Remove the caps from the drain lines.Connect the drain lines to the drain mast (3).
(4) S 414-018Close the access door 315AL.
(5) S 864-019Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: (a) P83 Panel, E8 Aft Equipment Center 1) APU PRIMARY CONT

APU ENGINE - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______
A. The APU engine provides bleed air for pneumatic power and shaft power for driving the engine accessories and two electrical generators. The engine consists of a compressor section, diffuser duct, combustor, turbine section, accessory gearbox and load gearbox.
Compressor Section
__________________
A. The compressor section is divided into two main sections: the load compressor and the power compressor. Both compressors are centrifugal type and are counter rotating. On the front of the load compressor housing is the load gearbox which contains the oil tank. Mounted on the load gearbox are the two APU generators and the accessory cooling air fan. On the bottom of the compressor case is the accessory gearbox. Mounted on the accessory gearbox is the starter, oil pump pack, fuel metering unit and fuel pump.
