 4.  APU Drains and Vents
____________________
 A.  The APU drains and vents remove the unwanted fuel, oil, fluids and air from the APU. A vent to the exhaust duct removes the air/oil mixture from the No. 0 and No. 1 bearing seals and the unwanted air from the APU gearbox. Unwanted fuel, oil and other fluids are removed from the APU and airplane structure through a drain mast and other fittings on the lower side of the fuselage. Fluids from the air intake plenum and oil filler scupper go directly into the APU compartment. The APU drains and vents have the combustion chamber drain valve, drain mast, aft APU fuel line shroud drain and fuel drain flame arrestor.  5.  APU Engine Lubrication System

 A.  The APU engine lubrication system supplies oil to the bearings, gears and two generator drive splines from the APU load gearbox. The lubrication system has the oil filter element and two chip detectors. For a more detailed description of the APU engine lubrication system, refer to AMM 49-27-00/001.
 6.  APU Engine Fuel System

 A.  The APU engine fuel system supplies fuel from the aircraft fuel system to the APU. The fuel system has a fuel supply line from the No. 2 main fuel tank to the APU, fuel pump, fuel metering unit, flow divider and dump valve, fuel metering adapter, two fuel manifolds and 14 nozzle adapters. For a more detailed description of the APU fuel feed system, refer to AMM 28-25-00/001. For a more detailed description of the APU engine fuel system, refer to AMM 49-31-00/001.

 7.  APU Ignition and Starting System (Fig. 4)

 A.  The APU ignition and starting system turns the APU engine during the start and initial acceleration of the APU and ignites the air-fuel mixture in the combustor for combustion. The APU ignition and starting system has a starter motor, ignition exciter, two ignition cables and two igniter plugs. For a more detailed description of the APU ignition and starting system, refer to AMM 49-41-00/001.
 B.  The APU start transformer rectifier unit (TRU) uses ac input voltage from the gallery power No. 2 bus and changes the ac input voltage to 28V dc output voltage to turn the APU starter motor. The APU TRU is on the E33 equipment rack. For a more detailed description of the APU start TRU, refer to AMM 24-32-00/001.
