Make sure the door locks for the landing gear doors are installed (AMM 09-11-00/201).
NOTE: The door locks for the landing gear doors are installed
____ when you do maintenance in the wheel well areas.
WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT DOOR LOCK PROCEDURE TO LOCK
_______ THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE LANDING GEAR DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(b)
If the landing gear door locks are not installed, do this task: Body Landing Gear Door Lock Installation (AMM 32-00-30/201).
(c)
Push the APU STOP switch.
(d)
Make sure the APU immediately stops its operations.
(e)
Set the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel to the OFF position.
(f)
Set the BATTERY switch on the P5 overhead panel to the OFF and then to the ON position.
NOTE: This step will cause the APU electrical circuit to be
____ energized for a subsequent APU start.
(g) If it is not necessary to do other tasks, do this task: Body Landing Gear Door Lock Removal (AMM 32-00-30/201).

5. APU Ground Mode Simulation (Airplane is on Jacks)_________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
Use ground mode simulation to operate the APU and the airplane is on jacks. The air inlet door must be in the fully open position (45°) when you operate the APU on the ground and to get sufficient air to the APU. The air inlet door is in the fully open position when the air/ground relay system for the airplane is in the "ground mode". If the air/ground relay system is in the "air mode", the air inlet door is in the not fully open position (15°) during an APU operation.

CAUTION: DO NOT DISCONNECT THE COIL GROUND (AIR MODE) ON THE AIR/GROUND
_______ RELAY (R359) WHICH IS ON THE P83 PANEL. IF YOU DISCONNECT THE COIL GROUND, THE RELAY WILL TURN OFF. WHEN THE RELAY IS OFF, THE AIR INLET DOOR WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE TO THE 15° POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU IF IT DOES NOT GET SUFFICIENT AIR.
(1) With the airplane on jacks, do this task: Apply External Power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
NOTE: When the airplane is on external power and on jacks, the
____ fire warning horn will operate if the air/ground relay system for the airplane is in the "ground mode". The fire warning horn will operate if a fire signal is received from the fire detection system for the APU. If the air/ground relay system for the airplane is in the "air mode", the fire warning horn will not operate.
