 4. APU Emergency Shutdown

 A. General
 (1)  
To shut down the APU in an emergency, you can pull one of the fire extinguisher switches for the APU or push the remote APU STOP switch. There are two fire extinguisher switches. One fire extinguisher switch is in the flight compartment. The other fire extinguisher switch and the remote APU STOP switch are in the right wheel well for the main landing gear.

 D. Procedure
 S 862-102
 (1)  Do an emergency APU shutdown from the flight compartment:
 CAUTION: WHEN YOU USE THE APU FIRE SWITCH HANDLE TO STOP THE APU,
_______ YOU ARM THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING BOTTLE FOR THE APU. DO NOT PUSH THE DISCHARGE BUTTON BEFORE YOU MAKE SURE THERE IS A FIRE IN THE APU COMPARTMENT. WHEN YOU PUSH THE DISCHARGE BUTTON, THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING BOTTLE RELEASES ITS CONTENTS INTO THE APU COMPARTMENT.
 (a)  
Pull the APU fire switch handle on the P5 overhead panel.

 (b)  
If there is a fire in the APU compartment, push the discharge button.

 NOTE: The fire extinguishing bottle will release its contents.

 (c)  
Make sure the APU immediately stops its operations.

 (d)  
Set the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel to the OFF position.

 (e)  
Set the APU fire switch handle back to its initial position.

 (2)  
Do an emergency APU shutdown from the right wheel well for the main landing gear with the APU FIRE CONTROL handle:

 (a)  
Make sure the door locks for the landing gear doors are installed (AMM 09-11-00/201).

 NOTE: The door locks for the landing gear doors are installed
____ when you do maintenance in the wheel well areas.
 WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT DOOR LOCK PROCEDURE TO LOCK
_______ THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE LANDING GEAR DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (b)  If the landing gear door locks are not installed, do this task: Body Landing Gear Door Lock Installation (AMM 32-00-30/201).
 CAUTION: WHEN YOU USE THE APU FIRE CONTROL HANDLE TO STOP THE APU,
_______ YOU ARM THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING BOTTLE FOR THE APU. DO NOT PUSH THE APU EXTINGUISHER DISCHARGE BUTTON BEFORE YOU MAKE SURE THERE IS A FIRE IN THE APU COMPARTMENT. WHEN YOU PUSH THE APU EXTINGUISHER DISCHARGE BUTTON, THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING BOTTLE RELEASES ITS CONTENTS INTO THE APU COMPARTMENT.
 (c)  Pull the APU FIRE CONTROL handle on the APU remote control panel.

 (d)  If there is a fire in the APU compartment, push the APU EXTINGUISHER DISCHARGE button.
 NOTE: The fire extinguishing bottle will release its contents.

 (e)  
Make sure the APU immediately stops its operations.

 (f)  
Set the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel to the OFF position.

 (g)  
Set the APU FIRE CONTROL handle back to its initial position.

 (h)  
Set the BATTERY switch on the P5 overhead panel to the OFF and then to the ON position.

 NOTE: This step will cause the APU electrical circuit to be
