Set the BATTERY switch on the P5 panel to the ON position.
(b)
Set the STANDBY POWER switch on the P5 panel to the AUTO position.
(c)
Make sure the GND TESTS switch on the P461 maintenance panel is set to the NORM position.
(d)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel a) 6H5 FIRE EXTINGUISHER APU

Do the test of the fire switch shutdown:
(a)
Turn the APU control switch on the P5 panel to the ON position.
(b)
Pull the fire switch on the P5 panel.
NOTE: The APU ADVISORY and the APU STATUS messages will show.

(c)
Push the APU fire switch on the P5 panel back to its usual position.
(d)
Turn the APU control switch on the P5 panel to the OFF position.

Erase the APU STATUS message (AMM 31-61-00/201).

Set the circuit breaker and switches:
(a)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker.

A. General
(1)
The APU Ground Test sends a discrete input to the APU controller. This input makes the APU controller come on. After the APU controller comes on, it will do a start sequence. The start sequence will do a byte test on the APU controller. The start sequence will also do a funtional check on the stepper motor and resolver for the fuel metering unit (FMU). The stepper motor will open to allow minimum fuel flow.
