Procedure


 S 866-006
 (1)  
Make sure the APU control switch on the P5 panel is OFF and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

 (2)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
 1) 6K18 APU ALTN CONT


 (b)  
P83 Panel, E8 Aft Equipment Center
 1) APU PRIMARY CONT

 (3)  
Do the check of the air inlet door:

 (a)  
With the door closed, make sure the trailing edge aligns with the fuselage with a tolerance of |0.060 inch (1.524 mm).

 (b)  
If the trailing edge of the inlet door does not align within tolerance, do the following: 1) With the inlet door closed, make sure one end of the


 trailing edge aligns with the fuselage contour, and the other end of the trailing edge is above the fuselage contour.

 2)  Measure and record the distance that the trailing edge is
 above the fuselage contour. 3) Remove the inlet door (AMM 49-15-03/401). 4) Make a corrosion resistant steel shim to the thickness as
 necessary (Fig./602).
 5)  Install the shim between the inlet duct and the hinge on the side of the inlet door that was aligned with the fuselage contour.
 6) Install the inlet door (AMM 49-15-03/401). 7) With the door closed, make sure the trailing edge aligns with the fuselage with a tolerance of |0.060 inch
 (1.524 mm).
 8)  Adjust the position switch for the air inlet door (AMM 49-15-05/201).
 (c)  Examine the clearance between the inlet door skin and the fuselage skin to make sure it is the limits that follow: 1) The upper and lower sides of the door - 0.300 |0.030 inch
 (7.62 |0.76 mm). 2) Door trailing edge - 0.050-0.120 inch (1.3-3.0 mm).

Examine the door for tightness at the hinges and the clevis when it is closed.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

 (6)  Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU control switch on the P5 panel.

 (7)  S 716-013Turn the APU control switch to ON to operate the air inlet door to the open position. (a) Make sure the door operates smoothly.
 (8)  S 866-014Make sure you keep the APU control switch in the ON position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
 (9)  S 866-015Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: (a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6K18 APU ALTN CONT
 (b)  P83 Panel, E8 Aft Equipment Center 1) APU PRIMARY CONT

 With the door in the full open position (45°), do a check for tightness at the hinges and the clevis.
