APU DRAINS AND VENTS - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task does an inspection of the drain system for the APU engine. The inspection makes sure the quantity of fluid which comes out the fuselage drain outlets is in the permitted limits.
B. The second task isolates the source component when the leakage comes from a drain line which has more than one component connected to it.
C. The five fuselage drain outlets examined in this task are as follows:

The Combustion Chamber
(2)
The Starter and Generator Drive Pads
(3)
The Fuel System
(4)
The Fuel Line Shroud
(5)
The Fuel Pump Pad.
D.
There are four fuel components that drain into the drain outlet for the fuel system. These components are as follows:
(1)
The Fuel Metering Unit (FMU)
(2)
The IGV Actuator
(3)
The Diverter Valve Control
(4)
The Flow Divider/Dump Valve.
E.
Measure the leakage by how many drops of fluid drain out each minute during the usual APU operation. The inspection task contains the leakage limits for each component drain outlet. The repair steps for too much leakage are also given for each component drain outlet.
F.
You can get access to the five fuselage drain outlets on the outer side of the fuselage. The outlets are in the area forward and to the right side of the APU access doors. You can get access to the component drain outlets through the APU access doors.
