(19)
Make sure the flap trailing edge is 0.10 inch minimum from the retracted position at the center lines of the linkages (Fig. 401).
S 824-028
(20)
Adjust the flap upstops:
(a)
Turn each adjustable screw (58) until you get the approved clearance between the flap trailing edge and the wing structure (Fig. 401).
NOTE: Small increment adjustment of the screw stops is
____ necessary for all the stops to have the same load.
(b)
Tighten the checknut (57) on each upstops stop to 30-40 pound-inches.
(c)
Install the lockwire.
S 224-029
(21)
Examine the upstops pad (55) on the wing ribs and replace the pad if you find one of the two:
(a)
The depth of the worn area is more than 1/10 inch.

Make sure the clearances at the sides of the flap and at the forward edge are not more than the specified limits (Sections A-A, D-D, E-E and G-G, Fig. 402).
S 434-031
(23)
Install the stop access screws (56).
S 224-032
(24)
Make sure the contour of the front edge of the flap is not more than the specified limits (Section D-D, Fig. 402).
(a)
Adjust the contour if it is more than the specified limits: 1) Make a note of the number and the distance outside the limits of the flaps that do not align. 2) Extend the flaps electrically: a) Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to put the flap system in alternate control.
b) Move the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the EXT position. 3) Install the blocks (47) (Fig. 401). 4) Remove the bolt (11) at each pivot point C. 5) Loosen the checknuts (10) on the adjustable links CD.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO TURN THE LINKS CD EQUALLY AT EACH
_______ LINKAGE SET. FAILURE TO TURN THE LINKS CD EQUALLY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LINKAGE.
6) Turn the link CD as shown on the subsequent data to correct the flaps if they do not align:
