CONTROL LEVER.
(3) Retract the trailing edge flaps fully.
NOTE: You must fully retract the trailing edge flaps with hydraulic
____ power. Keep the flap control lever in the UP position for 1 minute before you measure the clearance.
S 862-037
(4)
Put the speed brake lever in the DOWN position to lower all spoilers until the piston of the control package is fully retracted.
S 222-103
(5)
Do a check of the clearance between the spoiler and the flap:
(a)
Make sure the clearance at the nearest point between the ground spoiler and the trailing edge flap is 0.055-0.075 inch.
(b)
Extend the trailing edge flaps fully.
(c)
Adjust the piston rod end 1 turn (360 degrees) to lower the trailing edge of the spoiler to 0.567 inch. 1) Do these steps if there are not enough threads to make the
adjustment:
a) Remove the control package of the ground spoiler (1).
b) Seal the shims (5A) to the rear spar with sealant.
c) Install the shims (5A) between the control package and
the structure. d) Install the control package of the ground spoiler (1).
S 822-092
(6) Adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap if it is not in the tolerance.

MAINTENANCE MANUAL
WARNING: DO NOT PUT A PART OF YOUR BODY BETWEEN THE SPOILER AND THE
_______ WING UNLESS THE SPOILER ACTUATOR IS LOCKED OR THE HYDRAULIC POWER IS RELEASED. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(a)
Open the applicable trailing edge panel and extend the flaps or lift the spoilers to get access to the spoiler control package. 1) Install the spoiler actuator lock if you lifted the
spoilers.
(b)
Do this task to depressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and No. 4: "Hydraulic System Depressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).
CAUTION: LOOSEN THE CHECKNUT SUFFICIENTLY TO MOVE THE TAB ON THE
_______ LOCKING DEVICE OUT OF THE SLOT IN THE PISTON ROD. YOU CAN BREAK THE TAB FROM THE LOCKING DEVICE.
(c) Loosen the checknut on the piston rod end.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE PISTON ROD IF THE CONTROL PACKAGE IS
_______ PRESSURIZED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL SEALS.
(d) Turn the piston rod to adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap. The rod end will move in or out of the rod.
NOTE: Each 1/4 turn of the piston rod will change the
____ clearance by approximately 0.14 inch (3.56mm). If you change the clearance by 0.35 inch (8.89 mm) or more, you must measure the clearances again.
(e) If you have removed the rod end or if you move the rod end out of the piston 0.50 inch (12.7mm) or more, fill the rod end with the corrosion preventive compound before adjustment:.
NOTE: If the piston rod is not full of the corrosion
____
preventive compound, corrosion will occur.
1) Remove the rod end from the control package.
