(e) Remove the three screws from the lower end of the shaft to remove the shaft retaining plate.
WARNING: HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE SPEED BRAKE MECHANISM DURING THE
_______ REMOVAL. THE WEIGHT OF THE MECHANISM IS HELD BY THE LOWER BEARING SUPPORT. THE MECHANISM CAN FALL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(f)
Remove fasteners that attach the support angle for the switch plate to the structure.
(g)
Remove the lower bearing support: 1) Hold the weight of the mechanism. 2) Remove the four bolts, washers and nuts.
(h)
Remove the lower support beam:
NOTE: Mark the forward end of the support beam to help
____
in assembly.
1) Continue to hold the weight of the mechanism. 2) Remove the four bolts, washers and nuts. 3) Turn the beam to be clear of the structure.
(i)
Remove the switch plate and the support angle.
(j)
Remove the four bolts that attach the upper bearing support to the structure.
(k)
Turn the mechanism to be clear of the arming switch and lower it from the structure.
(l)
If you will install a new mechanism, remove the top bearing, the cam, and the arming switch operator.

With the speed brake lever in the UP position, loosen the checknut and move the upstop until there is a clearance of 0.25 inch (6.35mm) or more between the upstop and the locking arm shoe (Fig. 201).

With the speed brake lever in the DN position, loosen and move the downstop until there is a clearance of 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) or more between the downstop and the locking arm shoe (Section B-B, Fig. 201).

Install the speed brake mechanism:
(a)
If you will install a new mechanism, install the top bearing, the cam, and the arming switch operator.
(b)
Put the mechanism in the structure: 1) Turn the mechanism if it is necessary to be clear of the switch and the cam roller lever.
2) Put the mechanism in position and attach the upper bearing support to the structure with four bolts.
WARNING: HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE SPEED BRAKE MECHANISM DURING THE
_______ INSTALLATION UNTIL YOU INSTALL THE LOWER BEARING HOUSING. THE MECHANISM CAN FALL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
3) Attach the lower bearing support with the four bolts, washers and nuts.
(c)
Attach the lower support beam to the structure with four bolts, washers and nuts.
(d)
Attach the support angle for the switch plate to the structure with BACC30VT5K3 bolts and BACC30BL collars.
(e)
Install the shaft retaining plate with the three screws. 1) Install the lockwire on the three screws.
(f)
Connect the transducer input control rod to the mechanism with a bolt, washer, and nut.
(g)
Install the actuator input control rod on the rod end on the mechanism.
