Remove the cables from the quadrant.

Make sure there is a small tension on the cables to keep them on the pulleys.

Remove the quadrant:
(a)
Remove the coupling and the crank from the quadrant shaft if it is necessary.
(b)
Remove the bolts, spacer, nuts, and washers to remove the stop fitting.
(c)
Remove the bolts, spacer, washers and nuts to remove the guard.
(d)
Remove the nut and washer that attach the quadrant to the shaft.
(e)
Remove the quadrant.

(1)
Install the quadrant:
(a)
Apply a thin layer of the corrosion preventive compound on the quadrant shaft splines.
(b)
Put the quadrant in its position.
(c)
Put the quadrant shaft in its position on the quadrant and install the nut and washer.
(d)
Tighten the nut to 400-450 pound-inches (45-56Nm).
(e)
Install the guard with the bolts, washers, spacers and nuts.
(f)
Install the stop fitting with the bolts, washers, spacer and nuts.

Attach the speed brake cables SBA and SBB to the quadrant:
(a)
Attach the cables to the quadrant with the cotter pins.
(b)
Attach the cables to the turnbuckles.

Adjust the speed brake cables:
(a)
Put the speed brake lever in the FLIGHT detent.
(b)
Adjust the cables to the tension shown in Fig. 401.
