3. Leading Edge Flaps Retraction

A. General
(1)
You can retract the leading edge flaps by pneumatic power or by electrical power. Use pneumatic power if you must extend or retract the LE flaps frequently. If you use electrical power, The limit is only one extension or retraction of the LE flaps every 5 minutes.

(1) Do this task: "Supply Pneumatic Power" (AMM 36-00-00/201).

_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU LOWER THE INBOARD FAN COWL PANELS AND THE INBOARD
_______ REVERSER HALVES FOR NO. 1 AND 4 ENGINES BEFORE YOU OPERATE THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS. THIS CAN PREVENT THE ENGINE COWLING OR THRUST REVERSER HALVES FROM DAMAGE.

Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent to extend the group A leading edge flaps (the 8 inboard LE flaps on each wing).

Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent to extend all the leading edge flaps.
