(1) Do this task: "Extended Leading Edge Flap Deactivation and Safety Lock Installation" (Ref paragraph 5).

(2) Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

(3) For the applicable power drive unit, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a) P6, Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6L21, LE FLAP ELEC CONT GRP B DRIVE 1 2) 6L22, LE FLAP ELEC CONT GRP A DRIVE 2 3) 6L23, LE FLAP ELEC CONT GRP A DRIVE 3 4) 6L24, LE FLAP ELEC CONT GRP A DRIVE 4

(4) Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch on the pilot's center panel to the ARM position.

(5) Move the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch on the pilot's center panel to the EXT position. (a) Listen for click of solenoid to make sure the brake does release.
NOTE:____ The electric motor brake will release and the flaps will open when the flap load is released. The motor brake will stay released if you keep the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch in the EXT position.
1) Do these steps if the motor brake does not release: a) Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the OFF position. b) Extend the unserviceable flaps.

(6) Extend the variable camber flaps. (a) Do these steps if the flaps open sufficiently: 1) Attach a textile ropes to the flap linkage on the aft end of the flaps. 2) Apply force of 150 to 200 pounds to each linkage of each flap in the flap set. (b) Do these steps if the flaps do not open sufficiently: 1) Remove the adjustment stop access screws. 2) Attach a handle or a hook to the hole with threads of 1/4-28 UNF (Fig. 201). 3) Apply force of 150 to 200 pounds to each flap linkage.

(7) Disconnect the drive shafts from the power drive unit when you extend the flaps sufficiently.

(8) Extend the flaps fully.

Extend the krueger flaps:
(a)
Loosen the four captive bolts on the leading edge access panel adjacent to the inboard end of the krueger flaps (Detail A, Fig. 202).
(b)
Open the panel to get access through the opening to PDU No. 4.
