Do a check to make sure the flaps installed are not out of tolerance:
(a) Move the flap control lever to the full UP detent to retract
the LE flaps.
(b) Make sure the flap trailing edge is 0.10 inch minimum (0.65
inch maximum) from the retracted position (in the wing
structure) at the centerlines of the linkages (Fig. 503).
NOTE:____ If it is necessary, the wing lip seal can be
temporarily removed.

If LE flaps are out of tolerance, adjust as follows:
(a)
Move the control lever to the 5 unit detent to extend the LE flaps.
(b)
Disconnect the drive shaft at the PDU and the rotary actuator.
(c)
Turn the rotary actuator to make corrections.
NOTE: One spline tooth turn of the drive shaft will move the
____ flap trailing edge approximately 0.04-0.05 inch.
(d)
Align the drive shafts.
(e)
Install the drive shafts with two screws.
(f)
Install the lockwire.
(g)
Move the flap control lever to the full UP detent to retract the LE flaps.

To adjust the flap load, install each adjustable screw stop one after the other.
(a)
Adjust each screw stop (one after the other) until the distance between the wing structure and the TE flap is not out of tolerance (Fig. 503).
NOTE: Small increment adjustment of the screw stops is
____ necessary for all the stops to have the same load.

Tighten the checknuts on the screw stops 30-40 pound-inches.

Install the lockwire.

Do a check to make sure that the profile of the front edge of the flap is not out of tolerance (Section D-D, Fig. 501).
(a)
Adjust the profile if it is out of tolerance. 1) Make a note of the number of the flaps that do not align. 2) Extend flaps electrically to a satisfactory position then
install safety locks to lock the flap linkage. 3) Remove the bolt at each flap linkage pivot point C (Fig. 501). 4) Loosen the checknuts on adjustable links CD.
NOTE: It is necessary to set the adjustable stops only one
____ time on the flap assembly. It is not necessary to adjust the stops again when you remove the other system components. The system is correctly adjusted when the "X" dimensions and the fairings are satisfactory.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO TURN THE LINKS CD EQUALLY AT EACH
_______ LINKAGE SET. FAILURE TO DO THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LINKAGE.
